FIDE's list has no rated tournament in Ludhiana from November 2024 to October 2026. Punjab's 8 rated events in that time were all held elsewhere: in Mohali (3), Hoshiarpur (2), Bathinda, Jalandhar and Sangrur.

So for a Ludhiana child, a rated game means a trip to another city, a few times a year at most. Jalandhar is the closest of those host cities.

None of India's 96 grandmasters is from Punjab (Tamil Nadu has 37), on FIDE's October 2026 list. India's grandmasters by state

What it means for your child

Most of a Ludhiana child's chess happens online, and that's fine if it's done well: level-matched opponents, games that someone looks at afterwards, and a regular tournament to play in.

That's what our classes are built around. The weekend tournaments and chess events give your child tournament practice every week, and when a Punjab State championship comes up, we prepare them for it.
