Tournament & Prize Policy

1. Summary

LWS tournaments are free, skill-development chess events for our students and guests. There is no entry fee, there are no cash prizes or prize pools, and no money changes hands in connection with any tournament.

2. No entry fees

• •Every LWS tournament, including the monthly LWS Month-End Championship and the weekly weekend arenas, is free to enter for everyone: enrolled students and guests alike.
• •Registration requires only a short form. We never request payment to take part in a tournament.

3. No cash prizes or prize pools

• •LWS does not offer cash prizes, prize money, prize pools, vouchers redeemable for money, or any other reward with a cash value for tournament results.
• •Winners and top finishers receive non-monetary recognition only: certificates, trophies, a place in the LWS Hall of Fame, and, with a parent's consent, a mention on our social media.

4. No betting, wagering or staking

• •LWS tournaments involve no betting, wagering or staking of money, credits, coins, tokens or anything else of value, by players or by anyone else.
• •LWS does not offer, host or promote online money games of any kind.

5. What payments to LWS are for

• •Payments made to LWS, including through our payment partners such as Razorpay, are only for our educational services: the class and coaching plans listed on our pricing page.
• •Our payment channels are never used to collect tournament entry fees or to pay out prizes, winnings or any tournament-related amount.

6. Fair play

• •Games are played on Lichess, which applies its own fair-play and anti-cheating checks. Results are public and verifiable on Lichess.
• •LWS may disqualify any player found breaking fair-play rules or our code of conduct.

7. Children

• •Players under 18 take part with the consent of a parent or guardian, who completes the registration.
• •Results appear on Lichess under the player's chosen username. We do not publish a child's full name without a parent's consent.

8. Legal compliance

We run our tournaments as free skill-development events and do not offer online money games as defined in India's Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025. These arrangements also follow the terms of our payment partners.

9. Changes to this policy

If we ever change how tournaments work, we will update this page first and inform registered families by email or WhatsApp. Any change will remain within the law and our payment partners' terms.
