Not just chess — every kind of chess
From slow classical battles to one-minute bullet chaos and wild variants, our tournaments keep every player challenged and hooked.
Classical
Long thinking time. Pure strategy, no shortcuts — the deepest test.
Rapid
10+0 to 10+5. Fast enough to be thrilling, slow enough to plan.
Blitz
Three to five minutes. Sharp instincts and nerve win the day.
Bullet
One minute. Pure reflex — the wildest, fastest chess there is.
Chess960
Fischer Random. Starting pieces shuffled — memorised openings are useless.
3-Check
Check the king three times and you win. A whole new way to attack.
Atomic
Captures explode the surrounding squares. Chaos, combinations, and fun.
King of the Hill
March your king to the centre to win. Bold, aggressive, unforgettable.

Tournament FAQ
I'm a beginner — can I still play?+
Absolutely. Swiss pairings match you against opponents at your level, and beginners are placed in separate pools. Everyone starts somewhere — our arenas are the friendliest way to get tournament experience.
How do Swiss pairings work?+
In a Swiss, you're paired against someone on a similar score each round — win and you face tougher opponents, lose and you face easier ones. Everyone plays every round (no knockouts), so you always get a full set of games.
How do I join and submit my games?+
Join the LWS Lichess team and the WhatsApp group. We share the tournament link and password before each event — you just click in and play at the start time. Results are recorded automatically on Lichess.
What time controls and formats do you use?+
Mostly Rapid (10+0 to 10+5) and Classical for serious play, plus variant nights with Chess960, 3-Check, Atomic and King of the Hill. The monthly championship rotates through the main formats.
Is there fair-play protection?+
Yes. All games run on Lichess, which has industry-leading anti-cheat detection. Results are public and verifiable, and our arbiters review any flagged games.
Do I need to pay to play?+
Weekly Sunday arenas are free for all students. Only the monthly Month-End Championship has an entry fee (with a real prize pool) — everything else is free practice.
